Gut microbiota community and diet are correlated

A microbiota is a collection of microorganisms that live in parts of the body, including the digestive tract. There are 300 to 500 different species living in the human gut that have approximately two million genes.

These bacteria, along with other microorganisms such as fungi, viruses and parasites, form microbiota or microbiome, formerly known as the intestinal microbial flora. It is good to know that most of the bacteria in the body are beneficial and do not cause disease.

Each person’s microbiota is as unique as a fingerprint and different from another person’s microbiota. The microbiome is formed from birth and is influenced by the mother’s microbiota, environment, nutrition and lifestyle. The first two to three years of life are the most important time for the development of a healthy microbiome. Natural childbirth and breastfeeding help maintain and maintain a healthy microbiome. Intestinal microbiota is also influenced by the genetics of individuals. Importance of microbiota:

Heart disease:

Some gut bacteria may be involved in the link between cholesterol and heart disease. This compound causes cholesterol to build up in the blood vessels. Inflammatory bowel disease :

It is believed that people with inflammatory bowel disease have lower levels of anti-inflammatory bacteria in the gut; Of course, the exact relationship has not yet been determined. Some bacteria appear to cause the immune system to invade the gut and cause these diseases.

Colon cancer:

Studies have shown that people with colon cancer have different intestinal microbiota; In this way, they have more pathogenic bacteria.

Anxiety, depression, autism and chronic pain:

In the gut, there are nerve cell terminals that connect to the brain. This relationship is called the gut-brain axis. Studies have shown that there is a link between intestinal bacteria and diseases of the central nervous system such as anxiety, depression and autism spectrum disorder.

Rheumatoid Arthritis:

People with rheumatoid arthritis appear to have higher levels of bacteria associated with inflammation than healthy people.

Obesity:

Imbalance of the microbiome may affect the function of the pituitary gland, causing a change in the feeling of satiety and hunger, resulting in obesity. On the other hand, the pituitary gland also affects the balance of intestinal bacteria.
