The herbicide glyphosate causes cancer :GO ORGANIC! Glyphosate levels in the human body are reduced by 70% through a one-week switch to an organic diet. This result emphasizes both the ubiquity of this compound in the human body, and diet as the primary source of exposure for most people. It also adds to the evidence for Beyond Pesticides’ assertions that:
(1) chemical-intensive agriculture must be abandoned, for a variety of reasons that include human health, and (2) in the lead-up to a transition to organic and regenerative agriculture, consuming organic foods as much as is practicable is powerful protection from glyphosate, and from the assault of multiple chemical pesticides to which most people are exposed
Glyphosate is a popular herbicide that increases food prices and reduces yields, and is a major threat to the environment. Worse, the World Health Organization says it may be carcinogenic to humans. Stay with us in this article to get enough information about this dangerous herbicide.
Many people are not aware of the dangers of using the herbicide glyphosate. This herbicide is one of the most dangerous and deadly herbicides that are used to prepare many products.
Glyphosate is used to control many broad-leaved and narrow-leaved weeds
It is a systemic herbicide that acts non-selectively and kills even perennial and established weeds. Glyphosate is transferred to the lower organs of the grass through plant sap.
Roundup herbicide
Roundup herbicide is the most powerful and popular weed killer on the planet. This herbicide was developed in 1974 and it is interesting to know that its active chemical is glyphosate. In 2014, Roundup accounted for about a third of Monsanto’s $15.8 billion in sales.
In fact, Roundup is so effective that it sometimes destroys farmers’ crops.
The key ingredient in the evaluation of glyphosate is a compound with a molecular structure similar to the amino acid glycine. In addition to Roundup, glyphosate is used in many other herbicides.
Nature cannot be easily defeated
Years after using Roundup, other weeds grew that were much more resistant than the previous types. These grasses were even resistant to roundup.
And many of these resistant weeds left their survivor genes behind, rendering Rundup (and glyphosate) useless at killing them.
Because Roundup-resistant crops now make up the majority of US crops, efforts to protect them from weeds can lead to higher food prices, lower crop yields, and more expensive and environmentally friendly techniques. Live to deal with them. More worryingly, farmers are now forced to resort to additional and more toxic herbicides to control these resistant weeds.
24/7 SUPPORT
Roundup is now the best weed killer in the world. In March 2015, the World Health Organization declared that glyphosate is “probably” carcinogenic to humans. It is an environmental factor that can lead to cancer. The scariest part about glyphosate and other carcinogens is that their effects are not immediately apparent, but long term.
They are combined with other factors so that over time the probability of other diseases increases. The results of this combination can be quite fatal. One study found that people such as farmers, who are exposed to glyphosate through their jobs, have a higher risk of developing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, even after giving up the toxin.
This risk is not only for farmers. Since 75% of food sold in stores contains GMOs or genetically modified organisms, it is possible that they have come into contact with toxins containing glyphosate.
Any animal that comes into contact with Roundup, whether through non-organic corn or eating genetically modified wheat, can have traces of this herbicide in their crops.
Therefore, the use of herbicides continues in the food chain. Due to the increase in roundup resistant crops, farmers now spray their fields completely without fear of losing their crops.
About a generation ago, consumers consumed small amounts of these herbicides through their food, but today they are much higher. Data from the Environmental Protection Agency shows that in 2007, farmers used about 185 million pounds of glyphosate, about double the amount used in 2001! This represents a great risk to human health.

Studies have shown that glyphosate is metabolically toxic to cows.
One study showed that cows that were fed poisoned products had different levels of glyphosate in their urine, as well as different levels of this toxin in their bodies, livers, and kidneys.
This chemical has been shown to enhance environmental toxins and chemical residues in food. As studies show, “the negative effects of these toxins on the body are chronic and slowly appear over time as inflammation damages cellular systems in the body.”
This means that every time you consume food products containing toxins, including plants, fruits, milk or non-organically fed beef, you are exposing yourself to dangerous toxins.

In Argentina, the use of Roundup has made this country the third largest soybean producer in the world. It is interesting to note that there is a report from the Ministry of Health that shows that between 2005 and 2009, where GMO crops and chemical products such as glyphosate were used, the growth of cancerous tumors was twice the national average. More than 30,000 doctors and health professionals in this country are now calling on the government to ban the use of Monsanto products and glyphosate.
In Colombia, the Ministry of Health has asked the President to stop the use of Roundup in destroying weeds in agricultural products.
One of the scariest things about glyphosate is that it can even affect farms that don’t use it. In other words, the herbicide spray infects other areas as well.
These toxins slowly damage crops, harm wildlife, and contaminate water supplies. In addition, they can be placed on organic and healthy products and contaminate them.
There are ways for farmers to reduce herbicide use, but it is difficult to do. Glyphosite particles can travel long distances due to high winds or temperature changes.
These toxins are also carried by honey bees. A 2015 study found that 62 percent of conventional honey and 45 percent of organic honey contained glyphosate levels above the minimum set limit. Yes, even organic honey was contaminated. Unfortunately, today’s honeybees find it nearly impossible to survive things like herbicides, pesticides, and other toxins.
Interestingly, this research also examined the place of production of these honeys. Honey from countries that used GMO crops had the highest levels of glyphosate, and honey made in the United States had the highest levels.
Do not despair! We are fortunate that as consumers, we have the choice to use organic and natural products to provide our bodies with the most nutrients while being healthy. When shopping for animal products, look for those made from healthy, grass-fed cows. By law, the use of GMOs in organic products is prohibited. GMO seeds cannot be used and animals cannot eat GMO food.
Due to cross-contamination and natural factors, a product may not be 100% GMO-free, but organic products are guaranteed to be much healthier and contain lower amounts of toxins.
Visit your local farmers market and ask questions like what the animals eat, how the crops are protected from weeds, and whether they follow organic principles (for some small-scale farmers, converting crops to certified organic products, can be a very expensive process).
We know that choosing organic products is not always the cheapest option. But organic foods usually have higher nutritional value than their conventional counterparts and can protect your body’s health in the long run.
One study compared three different types of soybeans: GMO soybeans, “natural” soybeans, and organic soybeans. Organic soy was the healthiest type of soy. They had significantly more protein and zinc and no trace of glyphosate. Paying more for health is worth it.
Any non-organic product usually contains some level of toxins and glyphosate.
It is disappointing to know that glyphosate and other unnatural substances are present in most of the foods we consume every day. But by consuming organic and quality products, you can minimize the risks of toxins.
