Garden pest management via IPM :
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) combines a variety of controls, from manually removing pests to using traditional synthetic pesticides, in a sensible, long-term plan.
Designing a program around IPM principles can help protect and maintain a garden.
Even if you do everything right when building a healthy garden, pests will inevitably grow.
But garden management with a thoughtful, active approach helps to prevent serious damage.
IPM sees the garden and its pests as part of a larger ecosystem and manages both with the big picture in mind.
By creating an environment that is unkind to pests, you can eliminate the advantage of the environment (from the point of view of pests) and give it to your plants.
Under IPM, a pest is a living thing that you do not like to see around. This includes not only harmful insects, but also weeds, pathogens and uninvited creatures.

Avoid overhead irrigation.
