Identifying and Treating Apple Pests : Undoubtedly, one of the most important factors threatening the health and beauty of plants in urban green space is the existence of plant pests and the need to use new methods and programs to control these harmful factors that can minimize the harmful effects and complications. It is felt more than before.
The apple tree, like other agricultural products, has its own pests. The following is a list of important pests of the following tree along with how to fight these pests.
Apple wax or blood aphid:
This pest is prevalent in most parts of the world where apples are grown.
Wax aphids are seen as white lumps in the months of October and summer on the branches and trunks of seed trees, especially around the wounds caused by pruning the branches. The pest also attacks the roots and crowns of trees. Damage to the roots and crown of this pest is accompanied by the formation of special bumps and scabs. These bumps and scabs can also be seen on the branches.
Natural method:
1- Aphelimus bee is a specific parasitoid of apple wax aphid
2- Sirfid fly larvae and chrysopa larvae
3- Cecidomyiidae mosquito larvae
Cultivation method:
Apple wax aphid prefers shady places, so in apple orchards, planting full-backed apple trees should be avoided and pruning should be done so that air flow and the penetration of sunlight into the trees is always possible.
Chemical method:
Use of thymotonic toxins, oxytimethyl methyl and pyrimicarb
Apple red gall aphid:
Wingless biomaterials are 4.2 mm long and winged biomaterials are 3.2 mm long. The body color is brown and white powder covers the whole body.
By sucking the sap of the leaves, the aphid wraps their edges in a gall-shaped manner along the main vein. The scales are initially light yellow, then gradually turn red.
Apple red aphid:
This aphid can be found in all parts of the country. The red apple aphid, while sucking the vegetable sap on the leaves, causes their irregular complexity and creates pseudo-scales on them. This aphid also causes damage to the fruit.
Natural method:
This aphid has many natural enemies including parasitoid flies, bald eagle larvae and adult ladybug larvae.
Chemical method:
Systemic toxins such as dimethoate are very effective in controlling this aphid. Because this aphid spends the winter as an egg, winter oils can also be used to control them.
White root worm:
Adult insects 2.5 to 3.5 cm beetles brown with white spots with white spots. The horn has 7 large leaves in males and 5 small leaves in females. One of the most important hosts of this pest is apple trees and they feed on roots. Older larvae attack the trees and cut off the roots, and the tree suddenly dries up.
Simultaneously with the emergence of age one larvae, plow under the canopy of trees (infected spots) and then, according to the size of the mentioned surface, we poison the tree’s canopy (diazinon toxin 1 to 1.5 per thousand) and from the relevant toxic solution that has already been prepared. Three to five days later, we do light irrigation so that the poison goes deep into the soil.
Long-horned beetle:
Beetles with long tentacles are black and purple in color. The length of the tentacles is longer than the length of the body. This pest damages all types of cold fruit trees, both granular and stone. The larvae of the pest are wood-eating and act inside the young branches and trunks of the host.
Pest larvae in nurseries penetrate to the upper part of the branch, causing the terminal bud to dry out, as well as shortening the seedlings and creating ectopic branches and rosette.
Overwintering of the pest in the form of older larvae and inside the branches or trunks of host trees. Adult insects appear in the wild in late May, depending on the region, during the pupal period, with a full insect flight period of less than one month.
